A retainer is a commitment to work each month at a discounted rate. Retainers can be arranged in 3-month, 6-month or 1-year increments. Payments are made monthly, at the beginning of the month, unless other arrangements are made. Payments may be made by check (email me to arrange) or Paypal subscription (check button below). Additional work needed beyond the pre-paid hours will be billed at my regular fee or postponed until the following month at your discretion. Retainer clients will not receive invoices.

More about retainers

  • A retainer is a commitment of up to 5 pre-paid hours of work per month at a discounted rate (call to get current rates - 510-534-1415).
  • Retainers can be arranged in 3-month, 6-month or 1-year increments.
  • Payments are made monthly, at the beginning of the month, unless other arrangements are made. Payments may be made by check, cash, or Paypal subscription. Failure to pay on time results in the retainer agreement being postponed by one month and a temporary return to the current rate.
  • Additional work needed beyond the pre-paid hours will be billed at my regular fee (call to get current rates - 510-534-1415) or postponed until the following month at your discretion.
  • Retainer clients are not invoiced, although an invoice can be produced during the service period for a $15 fee.
  • Retainer clients will receive a statement at the end of the service period.
  • (Additional fees will be applied for requested interim statements.)
  • Special expenses such as font or stock artwork purchase, printing, or other services are additional.
  • Retainer payments do not accrue (roll over) from month to month. Retainer fees can, however, be applied to arrears.
  • Work will be planned by the client at the beginning of each month and scheduled by me in time to accommodate due dates.
  • Efforts will be made to complete last-minute assignments but rush work is never guaranteed.
  • I will use my judgment in delegating to sub-contractors when necessary to meet my obligations
  • Either of us may cancel the retainer agreement with one month’s notice.
